NASA clearly recognize the need for new, high performance, electric propulsion technologies for near-, mid- and far-terms and sponsors aggressive efforts in this area. These efforts are mainly conducted the Office of Space Science Cross Enterprise Technology Development Programm (CETDP) through the Advanced Power and On-Board Propulsion Thrust Area and the Aero-Space Technology Enterprise Advanced Space Transportation Program (ASTP).The ASTP also provides resources for the development of high performanced, high power systems for very ambitious missions including human exploration. |
